What a difference a week makes. From scorching sunshine to freezing icy rain in the space of a week. The newly purchased Gazeebo for the team came in handy and kept players and parents in relative comfort between the games. Due to the severe weather the festival was cut short with only 2 out of 5 games being played for our teams.
Nevertheless the kids had a great outing, got to play some very competitive games against clubs from Scotland and the North East of England. There was also 6 brave players that despite the festival being called off took the challenge to play a third match against Berwick RFC.
The whole team did very well but two individuals stood out in terms of their attitude to the game and showing the core values of Rugby. James Smith despite getting a knock and being winded in the first game, brushed it off and then joined the match again scoring 3 tries. Ethan Irving again only been coming for a few weeks and got two tries in one game, also impressed with Ethan being willing to step up and play twice with other club's teams to help them out with numbers, being a real team player. Both Ethan and James also were part of the hard core group of players that joined in for the final ad hoc game against Berwick RFC in the freezing rain when all the other teams had packed up and gone home. #hardcore
Roll on the Summer sunshine...
We will let the team have a go at some cricket coaching next week so hopefully the sun will be back for next Sunday.
