Ponteland arrived with only 12 players and Blyth lent them their subs so as to play full teams. However due to lack of front rows uncontested scrums were played.
Blyth's team was a mixture of last season Vets the "buckaneers" and some new youthful players. Blyth managed to score 6 tries through prop forward Howard, Mark Dunwoody, Bill Routledge, Andrew Jackson & Dave Charlton and two conversion by Rob Coulson. to win by 34 points to 26 points.
Captain Graham Bell was pleased with performance and commitment.
The enthusiasm has been resparked and 3rd xv are looking for a re arranged game next saturday.
