After last weeks hard fought victory in the season opener against Blaydon, a failure to capitalise on chances resulted in a disappointing defeat for Blyth 2nd XV at North Shields. The game was a closely fought contest for the most part, with both teams defending well and creating chances, the difference ultimately being North Shields ability to finish their opportunities. The game was 10 - 0 at half time, however late in the second half a combination of North Shields experienced back line and fatigue in the Blyth team allowed North Shields to run a number of tries in.

Blyth 2nd XV move onto next weeks home game against Berwick, and with a number of key players returning from holiday ready to kick start their season, there is a lot of confidence that Blyth can get back to winning ways.
