Generous support awarded by Blyth Town Council

BLYTH RFC has only one rugby pitch at its Plessey Road site. Almost all youth and senior rugby training and matches takes place on the pitch and after yet another very wet winter the pitch has suffered heavily from water logging and heavy usage.
A recent RFU pitch inspection by their facility development team has highlighted much needed remedial work that needs to be undertaken over the medium to long term to improve surface drainage and grass coverage.
The pitch is maintained by a small group of volunteers at the club and their efforts have received a huge boost from the support being offered by the local Blyth town Council.
Efforts are ongoing to raise funds to create a new 65mx30m Youth pitch on the site which will help 'spread the load' away from the main rugby pitch but whilst that project is being developed, the work to improve the main pitch is much needed in order that facilities are available for all youth and senior rugby activities.
